You may have already heard of the recent release of both citizens - Don Varnell and Robert Kesterson. We wish to state our relief at hearing this news, and that we are certainly glad for their wives and families, who understandably must be overjoyed to have them back safe and sound. We look forward to the day when such arbitrary actions are no longer taken against the peace-loving sovereigns of our nation. We Shall Overcome Someday!

Saturday, May 10, 1997 (RTD: 161.03.12)

Major General Zant, Commander of Texas Defense Forces, has issued a clarification of his "Special Alert" today. His communique advises that "There is NO PRESENT 'Call to Arms,'" and that the initial alert was meant to convey a "standby alert, in the event, God forbid, that such a call becomes necessary."

The confusion of some was apparently due to the unlawful and unscrupulous actions of de facto agents provocateurs, who published unauthorized and unwarranted so-called "Orange Alerts." PLEASE DISREGARD ANY AND ALL COMMUNICATIONS NOT ISSUED BY THE AUTHORIZED OFFICERS OF THE PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT. Always look for their names, as well as the Seal of The Provisional Government, on all documents purporting to come from your authorized elected and appointed representatives.

As we have always said, the People of the Republic of Texas, through their duly elected Provisional Government, earnestly and honestly desire to reestablish the independence and sovereignty of Texas through entirely peaceful and non-aggressive means. The question of our republic is an eminently political question. While we retain the right to defend ourselves from the aggression of others, we hope and pray that truth and reason will prevail, rather than the sword. Thank you all for your support. GOD BLESS THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS!!

Friday, May 9, 1997 (RTD: 161.03.11)

During the last 24 hours or so, there have been confusing and conflicting reports and alerts published by different means concerning the state of affairs in the Republic, apparently triggered by the recent unlawful and contemptible actions of Attorney General "Santa Anna" Morales, as well as those of the U.S. Attorney. We urge you to please be sure of what is happening before jumping to conclusions and taking action. Be sure to confirm all reports and alerts with reliable sources, so as to avoid unnecessary confrontations and dangerous situations. Don't forget to "look before you leap."

Whatever course we pursue, must be tempered with caution, always remembering that the cause of freedom and justice can best be served from a position of strength - strength of purpose, of character, of deliberate(d) action, of resolve to move within the bounds of the common law - and not out of fear, impatience or emotional reaction.

We will keep you abreast of events as they occur, A. S. A. P.

Thursday, May 8, 1997 (RTD: 161.03.10)

FLASH: The U.S. Attorney's Office has served arrest warrants on two former members of the Provisional Government of the R.T. - namely: Steven Crear (former Vice President) and his assistant, Mark Hernandez, apparently in connection with the same grand jury indictments against Richard McLaren and his wife, Evelyn (Horak) McLaren. Their charges include some or all of the following: conspiracy, bank fraud, mail fraud and aiding and abetting. We are following these events closely, in order to keep you informed about them.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Dan Morales is trying to keep busy by harrassing other citizens of the Republic with arrests. Already Donald Varnell, Secretary of Plans, Powers, Constitution and Conventions, has been detained with the slave catching order called "Writ of Attachment." Also Robert Kesterson (former Secretary of State) has been arrested on a supposed "Contempt of Court" charge, by the same unlawful method. These are truly "contemptible" acts of tyranny perpetrated by this agent of the New World Order on our sovereign soil. Mr. Moral-less has said time after time that "NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW." Well, neither is he!! The Law (Constitution) does not allow him to do these things. But I imagine he thinks he has "immunity."

Sunday, May 4, 1997

A great collective sigh of relief was heard across the land yesterday afternoon, when Mr. McLaren and his little group emerged from the trailer house in the Davis Mountains, outside the city of Fort Davis of Jeff Davis County, and ended their week-long standoff. This is precisely what millions of Americans were hoping and praying for. Our Great and Gracious Creator has spared us another senseless massacre, for which we are grateful.

Meanwhile, the General Council of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Texas met in Houston on Friday evening and Saturday Morning. Both meetings were well attended, and morale is high. Interest in the Republic is growing by leaps and bounds, not only among the people of Texas, but also among members of the media.

On Saturday afternoon, the announced Convention of Delegates was convened, in which several changes were made to the November 30th Revised Plans and Powers of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Texas. Presently, we will post the results on this website, for your information and edification.

The standoff in Ft. Davis apparently remains today about the same as it has been for the last few days. Many of you have questions and concerns about this sad situation. Here is a transcript of a letter from one of our viewers, together with an answer from us. It makes good reading and may answer some of those concerns.

FLASH: The Counsel General of the Prov. Gov. of the Republic of Texas, ever seeking a peaceful solution for the standoff between the state authorities and the McLaren group parapeted in their trailer outside of Fort Davis, today filed a complaint against Richard McLaren with the People's Court of Common Law of the Milam District, Tarrant County in Arlington, based on the Indictment already on file in that court. Subsequently, Mr. Alden Nellis, Justice of the People's Court, issued a warrant for the arrest of Mr. McLaren, and Mr. Tom Gipson delivered a copy said warrant to the Chief Deputy Sherriff of Midland County, who then forwarded it to the Texas Rangers.

NOTE: This is my last posting before attending the General Council Meeting in Houston. Hope to see you there! Further developments will be covered after my return (probably on Sunday, IMHS). Thank y'all for your attention and letters of encouragement. WE SHALL OVERCOME!!
