Why did the People of the Republic of Texas arise?
by Jesse Doyle Enloe
February 24, 1997

We are called "anti-government." We are called "right-wing extremists," "radical fringe group" and all sorts of other things. It seems that the federal and state governments have gotten so used to exercising their "sovereignty" over the people that, whenever anyone speaks out against government corruption and wrongdoing and tries to exercise their rights, they are immediately vilified by the government and the press.

You are called "anti-government" if you voice specific allegations about specific government abuses. The one thing that seems to have been forgotten is that the PEOPLE are self governing according to the well established principle that "All political power is inherent in the people."This principle is written into every founding document of both the united States of America and the Republic of Texas, and is even found in the various STATE OF TEXAS constitutions.

The People of the Republic of Texas are now moving to regain the Sovereignty of the Soil of Texas from the UNITED STATES and STATE OF TEXAS governments, simply because of the government abuses and erosion of freedom and liberty of the People. If it were not for the extreme nature and voluminous number of these abuses, the People would have never been driven to the research that led to the discovery that Texas is a captured nation of war.

The NATIONAL and STATE governments are so far outside the delegated authority of the constitutions that created them that it is past time for the People to exercise their inherent political authority and correct the situation. Both of the mentioned governments are totally out of control, in the Executive branch, the Legislative branch, and the Judicial branch. The legislatures pass law after law that they have no delegated authority to pass, the Executive branches encourage this infringement on our freedom and liberty, and the Judicial branches not only enforce these laws but make their own laws as they go.

The worst of it is the fact that the Judicial branch is in collusion with 'Law Enforcement" to enforce laws that don't even apply to the people against which they are enforcing them. The news media reports that we believe that the federal and state laws don't apply to us. They imply that this is because we say we are a Sovereign Nation. This is partially true, however, if you study the laws you will find that, in most cases, they are written deceptively so as to make the people think that they apply to them when they really don't.

A case in point is that of the traffic laws. A study of these laws reveals the fact that they are codified under VERNON'S CIVIL STATUTES. It also reveals that these laws apply to commercial activity, drivers and vehicles only. They do not apply to any private individual engaging in his/her RIGHT to travel anywhere, anytime, and by whatever means he/she so chooses. But how many of us have had money extorted from us through "traffic tickets" that apply only to commercial vehicles and employees of the municipal corporations that issued them? And if you attempt to point out the law and not pay the fine, it somehow, with the wave of the judicial wand, becomes a criminal rather than civil offense, and you go to jail on a civilstatute!

The People of the Republic of Texas want to bring us back to a constitutional government that actually operates within the restraints of the constitution. We want to reclaim the Sovereignty of the people and stop the government's abuse of power. In short we want the FREEDOM and LIBERTY guaranteed to us by the founding documents of this great Nation.

Naturally this notion strikes fear into the hearts of those government officials who enjoy their extreme abuse of power. Many of these men and women (probably sincerely) believe that they are doing the right thing and are unaware of how far outside the principles of our founding fathers they really are. But there are some, we are convinced, that know the truth.

This article would exceed hundreds of pages, maybe thousands, if I were to try to enumerate specific abuses of government power here. The important thing is to understand who the People of the Republic of Texas are and what they are fighting for.

We are people from all walks of life. There are no racial, religious or philosophical boundaries. We are simply people who understand the extent to which our freedoms and liberties have been eroded over the past 150 years. We are people who are aware of the Social and Economic problems that exist, and want to find a better way to solve these problems than with over-taxation and an over-intrusive government. We believe in the principles of Freedom, Self-Responsibility and the Common Law. We believe that we should have the freedom to travel, work, live and play with out the government licensing and regulating our behavior.

Let me conclude with some noteworthy quotes:

"The right to be let alone is the underlying principle of the Constitution's Bill of Rights" -Erwin N. Griswold

"...the Bill or Rights does not come from the people and is not subject to change by majorities. It comes from the nature of things. It derives the inalienable rights of man not only against all government but also against the people collectively."- Walter Lippman

"It would be an absurdity for jurors to be required to accept the judge's view of the law, against their own opinion, judgment, and conscience." - John Adams

'...then nothing can be more evident than this: The law is the organization of the natural right of lawful defense. It is the substitution of a common force for individual forces. And this common force is to do only what the individual forces have a natural and lawful right to do: to protect persons, liberties, and properties; to maintain the right of each, and to cause justice to reign over us all. When law is perverted beyond this, it becomes a system of legalized plunder.

"Now since man is naturally inclined to avoid pain - and since labor is pain in itself - it follows that men will resort to plunder whenever plunder is easier than work. History shows this quite clearly. And under these conditions, neither religion nor morality can stop it. When, then, does plunder stop? It stops when it becomes more painful and more dangerous that labor. It is evident, then, that the proper purpose of law is to use the power of its collective force to stop this fatal tendency to plunder instead of to work. All the measures of the law should protect property and punish plunder." - Frederic Bastiat

Sincerely, with my prayer for Freedom and Liberty for all,
