Aside from the commercial media coverage of the "standoff" (which you've all seen), the news concerning the situation in Ft. Davis is sketchy at best. One item which is still in question is the exact number of people that are with McLaren, inside his "embassy." The media has variously said that there are 10 and 13, but other sources say that the number is no more than half a dozen, besides his wife and himself.

We sincerely hope they don't try to shoot it out with the DPS or the Texas Rangers. We also hope none of the heavily armed law enforcement units take it upon themselves to initiate or precipitate a bloody battle. Let neither side act out of a sense of impatience or haste. These people should by all means be brought to trial, NOT just blasted out of their trailer.

As soon as we have any news not reported by the media, you'll be the first to know about it.

FLASH FLASH FLASH

McLaren's Lawless Actions Condemned!!

NOTE: The following transcribed fax from Vice President Enloe is dated April 28, 1997. It in turn refers to the Delegates' Convention of November 30, 1996.

On November 30, 1996, a Convention of Delegates, comprised of those having declared their Citizenship in the Republic of Texas, was held, in response to extreme and unlawful acts by several members of the Provisional Government. Seven people were removed from the Provisional Government at that time by election of the Delegates, and the vacancies created by this action were filled, also by election of the Delegates. Richard McLaren, among others, was removed from office on that date and has been operating on his own volition without any delegated authority of the people since that date.

The other six removed officers continued working with McLaren until February of 97, until they, too, grew weary of his unlawful actions and removed him from their group. While McLaren is credited as having a great deal to do with getting the process of reclaiming our nation started, he was removed from office for violating the very law he swore to uphold. The events that are taking place in Fort Davis are further evidence of McLaren's contempt for the will of the people and for the common law. We consider the taking of hostages to make political demands to be nothing short of the same lawlessness against which we have taken a stand.

We urge everyone to not get involved in McLaren's personal war. Even though he still purports to be fighting for the Republic, he obviously has a personal agenda not compatible with that of the freedom loving people of the Republic and we cannot condone his unlawful actions. We also urge everyone to join us in our prayer that this current crisis may end with no more people being injured.

Signed: Jesse Doyle Enloe, Vice President

As you can see, the lawful and authentic representatives of the People of the Republic of Texas energetically condemn the actions and attitude of this FORMER officer of the Provisional Government. Please understand that Mr. McLaren NO LONGER (since Nov. 30, 1996) HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE NON-AGGRESSIVE AND LAWFUL MOVE TO RECOVER OUR COUNTRY FROM UNDER MILITARY RULE.

ATTENTION DELEGATES!

Regarding the May 3, 1997 convention: [Submitted by Sonya Young]

1) We did not finish the business on the agenda as we did not deal with the proposed changes of Article 7. 2) We need to sign off on the changes that were made.

Therefore:

1) If at least 2/3 of the delegates are present at the Fort Worth meeting on May 31, and if time allows, we will endeavor to complete said unfinished business. If not, it will be completed at the next General Council meeting in June if everything is in place to do so.
2) All delegates present must review and if acceptable, sign off on the changes made on May 3, 1997.

Pertaining to delegates: It was stated at the end of the last convention that no stipulation was made as to how long the elected delegates would serve. It was the intention that the districts would decide how long their elected delegates would serve. It was the intention that the districts would decide how long their elected delegates would serve and some did.

If your district wants to stipulate how long your delegates should serve, then please do so and present that in writing signed by as many people in your district as possible.

All districts should at this time, decide if they with to hold another election, OR retain the delegates already elected.

Personally, I believe the delegates should be elected to serve for at least 6 months so that if an "emergency" arises, the election process will not have to take place before business can be conducted. As always, "all power is inherent in the people."

Thank you and please accept my apologies for errors made in the conducting of these proceedings.

Due to multiple activities during the last few weeks, I have neglected to post the news about the citizen's Delegate's Convention to be held on the same day as the General Council Meeting in Houston. Click on General Council Meeting to see the details. Please plan to be there. Several very important things will be decided, and you will want to have a say.

How do you like ourFront Page? If you think that's something, just wait 'till we've posted the "final version!" As you can see, we are improving and updating the site continually.

P.G. [former] President David Johnson's appearance on "Freedom Call" with Col. Bo Gritz was a huge success! Mr. Johnson was able to cover a wide range of issues affecting the Texian struggle for freedom. Even the difficult questions regarding former council members were handled very well by our Chief Spokesman.

HAPPY SAN JACINTO DAY, TEXIANS!

On a day like today, one hundred and sixty-one years ago, Texians "fit the Battle of San Jacinto," routed the Mexican Mercenaries under Santa Anna, and captured the general himself. If it's hard to say "Sahn hawseentoh" you could call it "Victory in Texas Day" or "V-T Day." As on other national celebrations, we invite you to proudly display our flag or banner wherever you can, as a testimony to our independence and freedom.

Please note the change in broadcast schedule for President Johnson's appearance on the "Freedom Call" show.

Two events were held this last weekend. One in San Antonio (the General Council Meeting) and another in Mesquite (the "Preparedness Expo."). Both are reported to have been successful and productive. Attendance to the Council meeting was not as strong, for several reasons: a number of the regular attendees from the Dallas area were either unable to travel, manning the RT booth in Mesquite, or both. Also, several council members were otherwise engaged in urgent RT activities elsewhere. I myself could not attend, due to pressing issues at home, as well as a financial crisis.

There are glowing reports from the folks who attended the RT booth at the "Expo." According to my best sources, at least 50 sovereigns declared their citizenship in the Republic during the three days of the event! During my short visit just before it's close, I witnessed the affidavit of the last one of the fifty-odd declarants. Interest in the RT was such that a number of Republic citizens stated that there were times when they were hard put to answer all the questions and concerns of the visitors to the "Expo." Excitement was high throughout.

Some of our viewers have complained of poor readability of some of the pages on this site. I am presently working on what I trust is a solution to the problem. You will now be able to view almost any page in "Black & White," just by clicking on the words: <<See This Page in "Black & White.">> You'll find this hypertext sign near the top of each page. Happy viewing!

Here is an important bit of e-mail from one of our viewers:

Subject: The attorney general of Texas Date: Thu, 10 Apr 1997 19:10:46 -0500 From: ****************** Organization: *********************** To: Webmaster

Dear Sir,

I have been in contact with Julie Joe of the Attorney General's office of Texas and I am mad! The people in that office want to file a RICO action against every person in the Republic of Texas. They are very mad about the LIEN filed against the property of the State of Texas. She stated that the LIEN is making it very difficult for the State of Texas to sell property -- what a shame!

I want to know what united effort can be taken by the Citizens of the Republic of Texas to stop this action. I thought that I might file an "open records act" request for every piece of paper that exists on the Republic and the people who visit web pages like yours. I refer you to the Houston Chronicle article of this data saying that the attorney general wants to sieze all E-Mail having to do with the Republic and the name and address of anyone who visits the Web Page. I an mad as Hell and I will not put up with it any more!!

Thanks for your ear on this matter. [Signed by a concerned citizen.]
