Citizenship in the Republic of Texas1

Who may be a Citizen?

Those who have lived on the soil of Texas for at least six months may declare their Citizenship/Nationality in the Republic of Texas. Those who migrate to and live on the soil of Texas for at least six months may become Citizens in the Republic of Texas.

We feel it is necessary to take affirmative action to remove the presumption of US citizenship (citizenship in the corporation of the District of Columbia) and declare our status as Citizens in the Republic of Texas. This affirmative action is accomplished by filing a document with the Republic of Texas declaring your status as a Citizen/National in the Republic of Texas. This document, an Affidavit of Declaration, must be witnessed by two other people.

What does it mean to be a Citizen?

First, Citizenship in the Republic of Texas means that you will support the Republic of Texas and it's law, which is the Common Law.2 It also means that you will not bear allegiance to any foreign nation or government. Citizenship in the Republic of Texas carries with it rights and responsibilities. A Citizen's rights are protected by the Common Law. This means that your fundamental rights to life, liberty, and property are protected. You cannot be forced to surrender your rights, your liberty, or your property except as a punishment for a crime of which you have been convicted by a lawful People's Court of Common Law. No private person or government official has the right to compel you to perform any act contrary to your conscience. You are free to conduct your affairs in whatever manner you see fit, so long as you do not infringe on anyone else's rights or property. Statutes that attempt to compel performance in matters of personal choice (for example, whether you want to wear your seat belt or drive at a certain speed) are unlawful in the Republic of Texas.

Some argue that this will lead to anarchy. They argue that people will take advantage of the freedom they will have and that chaos will be the result. However, they fail to consider the responsibilities that go along with the rights of Citizenship. Under the Common Law, a Citizen of the Republic of Texas is completely responsible for his own actions, and must answer to any damages he causes anyone. If a Citizen harms anyone in any way, then he must make full reparations for the damage that he has caused. For example, if a Citizen drives 90 miles an hour down the road, that is his right. But if that citizen damages another person or their property in so doing, then he is personally liable and responsible to make reparations to the other parties involved. If there is a dispute as to whether the Citizen caused the damage in question, then the matter must be heard by a lawful People's Court of Common Law. If found liable and responsible for the damage the Citizen must make full restitution for the damages that he has caused, even if it means he must sell everything that he has. Thus, each Citizen is free to live his life as he sees fit, but he must also respect the rights of every other Citizen and never infringe on those rights. Each must be willing to face the consequences of his/her actions.

Why should I become a Citizen?

Each person must choose his or her own destiny. Likewise, whether you become a Citizen in the Republic of Texas is entirely your choice. You may continue to act as a US citizen if you feel that it is in your best interest to do so. If you do, and you continue to reside in Texas, then you must conform yourself to all the laws which are applicable to US citizens living abroad as well as the common law, which is the law of the land in Texas. As long as you are not a citizen in the Republic, you are not able to exercise the right of suffrage in the Republic of Texas.

Becoming a Citizen in the Republic vests you with all the rights and freedoms of Citizenship, as well as placing you under the jurisdiction of the Common Law. You will then experience liberty and freedom, rather than a life filled with oppression, regulation, governmental red tape, and over-taxation. The choice is clearly yours.

NOTES:

1 "Citizenship" is defined differently in the Republic than in other places.
A good synonym for what is meant by the term is: "Sovereign Nationality"
Click here to see the General Council's definition of "Citizen."  See also: the President's note on the use of the word "of".

2 This is not a reference to the "Common Law" as understood and practiced in the United Kingdom, nor as defined by attorneys in the United States and in the de facto STATE OF TEXAS. "Common law," as used in the Republic, is basically what is otherwise known as "natural law." For a better understanding of this law, CLICK HERE.
